Swami Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji, the embodiment of Supreme knowledge of Soul and Enlightenment was born on Monday, 30th November 1897,in a Bhardwaj clan, village Bhoochhaal Khurd, district Jhelam, West Punjab. on 30 November 1897, Monday . His arrival was rejoiced and celebrated by the Gosain family and he was named as Pandit Shri Khushiram ji. It is said that after the birth of this archangel, the room reverberated with the sound of flute. His father, Shri Maheshdas Bhardwaj Ji had a vision of a lotus under a young cherub’s feet. Exulted with joy, he prophesied that this infant ascetic would enlighten several spirits with monistic light. This came true, and Pandit Khushiram Ji became well-known as Raj Yogacharya Shri Swami Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji.
From a young age Shri Khushiram Ji used to keep sacred books like Shrimadbhagwad Gita, and his childhood was spent in the company of Saints and Sages. As a scholar he studied challenging subjects like Sanskrit, Astrology, Grammar, Law and Vedenta . At the age of sixteen years he married a well-qualified girl, Sushri Viravali Ji, who remained his companion in the true sense and helped him continue his spiritual studies without any interventions. However, even the domiciliary (household or familial) life could bring no change in the hermit that resided in Shri Khushiram Ji. The conscience that was deep inside him remained secluded to the outer world. He led the life of a sage who was in search of self-realization. Many times he went on pilgrimage, or he would try to obtain transcendental knowledge from the spiritual pastors.
It is said that Shri Khushiram Ji used to pray to Lord Krishna with true devotion for the blessings of Puran Satguru Dev. Once such day, in the thirst of spiritual knowledge, he prayed to Lord Krishna and uttered words from Gita, saying , hey Lord, when you are happy , you bless your devotees with supreme knowledge of Yoga( “The knowledge to attain union with God “) Shri Khushiram Ji asked the Lord to fulfill the promise as per the holy Gita. It is said that whilst he was in this delirious state, he heard a voice in mind that directed him towards someone. That very instant, he went to the directed ashram to meet the old man about whom he had heard in his mind. The man informed Shri Khushiram Ji of the arrival of a great personality with a celestial demeanor, and asserted that this saint would help Shri Khushiram Ji in quenching his thirst of obtaining spiritual understanding.
The next morning Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji (Shri Khushiram Ji) – a born yogi with supreme divine knowledge, noted seven questions in a piece of paper whose answers were known to him, and kept the paper in his pocket. He went straight up to Shri Shri 1008 Swami Swarupanand Maharaj Ji, a heavenly glorified soul, and to his surprise he received answers for all the seven questions, without even asking any of them.
On the instructions of Shri Gurudev, Shri Khushiram Ji immersed himself in spirituality and gave up all sense of ownship over his possessions. Despite being a family man, he perfectly steered a life of ascetic. To study and gain transcendental knowledge, he did not sleep in the night for twenty-one years and performed severe austerities. He used to go to the river side in the midnight and practice samdhi under a dry tree to attain Supreme Consciousness. He accomplished perfection in yoga, learnt yogic way to control the life force and achieved supreme self. In 1930, Shri Nangli Nivasi Bhagwan Ji (Shri Shri 1008 Swami Swarupanand Maharaj Ji) permitted Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji to give Updesh to devotees acknowledging the supremacy of his transcendental knowledge.
Accordingly, Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji thus took the baton of supreme knowledge of soul in his hands and started his preaching from a small village, Saalam. He established an ashram there and promoted Adwait belief. He led a life of renunciation and non-attachment for the upliftment of the mankind, giving up the Self.
To publicize and teach Raj Yoga, Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji laid the foundation of Raj Yog Mandir in Delhi in Kartik Poornima, year 1964.
Spreading the message of humanity and encouraging charity everywhere, Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji on the auspicious date, 2 July 1985, bestowed his spiritual power and knowledge on his younger son, Shri Khairatilal Ji, and annointed him as the patron saint of the institute. He gave his son a propitious name, Shri Swami Keshvananda Satyarthi Ji. He also blessed his daughter in-law with a new name, Sant Maa Divyanand Satyarthi Ji. With the inspiration of Gurudev, Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Ji Maharaj, Swami Keshavananda Satyarthi Ji, founded " Paramhans Satyarthi Mission ", with the purpose of serving humanity by disseminating centuries old supreme knowledge of soul acquired from generations under Adwait belief . It was ensured that there was no discrimination of caste, creed or class among devotees of Paramhans Satyarthi Mission. He wrote books like Gitaamrit, Satyarthi Sandesh, and Sahaj Samadhi Vigyaan, which were based on inscrutable spiritual knowledge.
A year later, on 7 January 1986, which was also the11th lunar day, Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji prophesied that his immortal spirit will leave mortal body for the ultimate union with supreme soul before 2’o clock in the afternoon. It was the same day at 1:30 pm that his holy frame left for the heavenly abode and his soul united with the cosmos. The Guru Dev’s Spirit blessed all his devotees before uniting with the celestial light in the constellation. Shri Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji was fully devoted to his his Guru Dev and was also his Guru Ji’s favorite. Because of his devotion, He had always aspired that his Samadhi be built close to Guru Ji’s tomb in Shri Nangli Sahib. Accordingly, Samadhi of Swami Paramhans Ramanand Satyarthi Maharaj Ji was built at Shri Satyarthi Samadhi Mandir, Nangli Teerth, Sakauti Taanda, Meerut, U.P on 8 January 1986.
