Purity Service and Meditation
Shri Nangli Niwasi Bhagwan Ke Jai !!
Shri Satyarthi Kirpa !!
Paramhans Satyarthi Mission(PSM) was founded on the inspiration and motivation of Swami Ramanand Satyarthi Ji Maharaj with an aim to provide one institution to the world which is above all caste creed , racial and financial differences. This institution teaches humanity as one religion above all other religions. The followers of this mission are good natured and kind hearted. The aim is to create a better society by teaching good qualities to people. The symbol of the mission is Hans( the swan bird) on the lotus flower. Resembling the quality of lotus flower, it remains in the mud but is still above it and untouched by the evils of the world.) PSM believes in the principle of Vasudev-Kutumbkam ( God’s One World). It believes all the human beings are equal in the eyes of god. All are his children and good people.
PSM was founded, and lead and governed by Swami Keshwanand Satyarthi Ji Maharaj (Mission Sansthapak and Conservator) since its establishment on 2nd July 1985. His Primary teachings have been Bhakti ( Worship), Sewa ( service) , Prem ( Love) and Raja Yoga( Meditation).
Bhakti( Worship) connotes devotion or love and love implies service. Service refers to that activity which is intended to please the beloved. Thus “ devotional service” is an eloquent definition of Bhakti. Bhakti is religious devotion in the form of active involvement of a devotee in the worship of the divine. It is love felt by the worshipper towards God. Such pure devotion is expressed in nine ways . First is satsang or association with the intoxicated devotees. The second is to develop a taste for hearing Guru’s nectar like stories. The third is the repetition of God’s holy name and fourth(?) chanting his bhajans are the fifth expression. To follow scriptural injunctions always, to practice control of senses, nobility of character and selfless service, these are expressions of the sixth mode of bhakti.
Seeing god manifested everywhere in the world and worshipping Guru more than god himself is the seventh mode of bhakti. To find no fault with anyone and to be contended with one’s lot is the eight mode of Bhakti. Unreserved surrender with total faith in God’s strength is the ninth and the highest stage. Anyone who practices one of these nine modes of Bhakti pleases God most and reaches Vaikunth (his holy place) without fail. Lord Krishna taught Bhakti-yoga, means how to act in harmony with ultimate reality-the Supreme Person. Bhakti- “devotional service”- is how the bhakt- “devotee”- and Bhagavan- “God, the possessor of all opulence”- relate. One of the basic principles of Bhakti-yoga, or devotional service, is that the Absolute Truth is not an impersonal void but rather the Supreme Person, full of variegated attributes. The Supreme Person, God, possesses unlimited personal qualities, and He also performs unlimited transcendental activities in reciprocation with the innumerable jivatmas (living beings) who enjoy His association in a state of pure consciousness. The goal of one who practices devotional service is to revive that state of pure consciousness and enter God’s personal association.
Bhakti means “devotion” or “devotional service” or “pure love.” So Bhakti- yoga means to practice connecting the God, and reestablishing our relationship with, God, through acts of love and service, or devotional service.
Sewa (Service) the best way of practicing Bhakti is by devoting our service to our Satguru Dev Bhagwan Ji. It could be in any way, by going to his temple and physically contributing to the activities happening there, by remembering him in our hearts and doing Pooja (worship) at home, by devoting (as per the wish) to the funds. Tann, Mann and Dhann, there are the three modes of service broadly defined. A person gets the utmost satisfaction and peace of mind by rendering the service (as per the capability and wish) to the Satguru Dev Bhagwan Ji.
“Because God is so great, I should serve Him. Why am I uselessly rendering service to this world? Why not render service to God?” That is called servitude. That is the beginning of Bhakti-yoga. Material activity simply entangles us in the repetition of birth and death. This is called pravritti-marga, “activity for sense enjoyment.” Everyone is busy working for sense enjoyment. The tiger is busy. The hog is busy. The dog is busy. And if a man also becomes busy for sense enjoyment like the tigers and hogs and dogs, then in his next life he may become one of those species of life.
Thus, it is therefore important to make the best use of the life given to us by God. By rendering our services our God, our Satguru Dev, we are making the best use of our lives. It is adding to our good karmas. At the end, we all get judged by the karmas we performed, so doing good karmas is the best way to get closer to God.
Prem (Love)…. Prem is the most fundamental drive of every living entity. We cannot be happy without satisfying this desire to love, and we will not be able to perfectly fulfill this desire without permitting its expansion to the most inclusive extent.
“In the primary stage a child loves his parents, then his brothers and sisters, and as he daily grows up he begins to love his family, society, community, country, nation, or even the whole human society. But the loving propensity remains imperfectly fulfilled until we know who the supreme beloved is.” Love can become all-embracing only when we understand that Param Satguru Dev is the supreme beloved, the root of all creation. By embracing Him we successfully embrace everyone, just as pouring water on the root of a tree successfully nourishes every leaf and branch.
Loving god means having complete faith in him, believing completely in his supremacy and thinking that he is our parent. He will take care of us at all the times, whenever we need him, whatever may happen, he will always be there for us. The same way as the small child believes in it’s parent. A good illustration in this context:
A small girl was going with her father
On one of the bridges water was moving at a very high speed
Father: Don’t be scared my dear daughter,
Hold my hand tight
Girl: No dad, U please hold my hand
Father (smiling): What is the difference in the two?
Girl: If I hold your hand and if something goes wrong, I may leave your hand but I know whatever may happen, u will never leave my hand.
When we trust God more than ourselves, he showers his ultimate love on us and remains with us at all the times, taking care of us as his utmost responsibility.
Raja Yoga (meditation), Meditation is generally an inwardly oriented, personal practice, which individuals do by themselves. The two and a half words (Updesh) Guru Naam is the most powerful mantra in the world. Satguru Dev teaches his disciple the way to meditate on this pious name. It is known to make the person’s life free of all hassles, to show and guide him in the right direction. To make life better for human beings, it is important to have self realization. The most important journey one can take is the journey within. This is the journey to the truth of who you really are. This is the place, just beyond every day consciousness, where spiritual empowerment begins. Spiritual power gives you the power to choose creative thinking rather than automated thinking, response rather than reaction, peace, love and harmony rather than stress, conflict and chaos.
Meditation enables you to embark on this inwards journey. Raja Yoga mediation gives you a clear spiritual understanding of yourself, helps you re-discover and use the positive qualities already latent within you, enables you to develop your strengths of character and create new attitudes and response to life. You begin to remember things about yourself that you once knew, but had long forgotten.
You start to enjoy moments of silence and to savor periods of introspection and reflection. Meditation also helps you to disconnect from damaging habits of thought, feeling and reaction. This results in a conscious, positive release of energy which improves the quality of your attitude, actions and interactions. The process of going within, disconnecting from harmful habits, connecting to your innate spiritual resources, and reconnecting with your external life, is personally empowering in a lasting way. Meditation is taught as a method of raising self-awareness leading to self realization.
Meditation stills the mind and empowers the intellect to achieve insight and understanding of the spiritual laws and principles which sustain harmony and can bring natural renewal at all levels of life on earth. By adapting these teachings in life, one can have a positive attitude towards life and a better life all together. A life in which you are close to the divine power, he is bestowing all his blessings on you making life contented and free of evils. Paramhans Satyarthi Mission aims to make a better world for human beings to live, a better society full of people believing in god and following the teachings of Satguru Dev Bhagwan Ji. This would help people in leading a better life in this world (Iss Lok) and a better life after this life in God’s holy place (Parr Lok)
